In late 2023 and again in late 2024, RMI held sessions in Castleton North Yorkshire. A return once again to our roots and as idyllic a location as can be imagined. The sessions in the cabin yielded several hours of material and through editing and re-editing we finally arrived at this 3 disc set, designed as a lengthy 'journey' of sequencer-based material and long textural sections with the emphasis on the electronics.

And at the very end of the last piece an interjection by one Harold Tarn, compere of the Sir William Turners VI Form musical evening in 1982, expressing his admiration for us as young composers. I'm sure he'd have been pleased to know we're still at it and recording only a few miles away from where the original speech was made.

This is the most recent RMI material to be released to date, and watch this space for the 2025 trio sessions which will appear once we've got our heads round them!

radio massacre international's sound defies categorization it is more magical than musical. the music is, first and foremost, improvisational. it is loose in structure but also searching. r.m,i. is all about generating the happy accidents that occur at the ever-changing intersection of multiple moving bodies. when two sequences converge fascinating things happen opening rhythmic and textural options that just moments before were closed to view. it is the creation and exploration of those options that dominates what r.m,i. does in its music.
